AtlasAlive! Version 3.6 Map Publishing Framework
Nationwide – Distributed Geospatial Services (DGS) is excited to announce the release of version 3.6 of its Internet Map Publishing Framework, AtlasAlive!. AtlasAlive! is a web-based framework for publishing GIS maps.
AtlasAlive! was first released in July 2006, providing a revolutionary approach to publishing GIS maps to the web with integrated database capabilities. With this server software installed, publishing full-featured GIS maps becomes as easy as uploading a file to a website -- no programming required! In two simple steps you can publish your GIS map to the web and experience a higher level of collaboration. Any user with access to the internet and one of the major browsers can view the map, rotate it, perform complex queries, toggle and overlay custom layers, or link to external documents. Users can also select map objects by clicking or using various commands or tools like polygons or buffers. With the powerful print engine users can print their maps or results to PDF files and administrators can easily customize the output.
Version 3.6 of AtlasAlive! integrates a host of improvements and upgrades based on the experiences of active users. The new version provides improved flexibility and customization capabilities and a cleaner and more intuitive user interface. It is built on Flash/Flex architecture and is designed to focus on easy map publishing and collaboration. The application can be extended by building custom Flex modules and integrating web services. Highlights of AtlasAlive! include a comprehensive set of navigation tools, a robust query engine, powerful printing, links to geo-referenced document libraries, and the ability to publish as many maps as your hardware supports. Administration is a snap because administration functions are achieved through extensive wizards.
AtlasAlive! is built on the Manifold(TM) framework and can publish Manifold map files natively. Translations from most common GIS map formats, image libraries and native access to many spatial databases can be achieved with relative ease. These include ESRI(TM), MapInfo(TM), Oracle Spatial(TM), DB2(TM), MS SQL(TM), MrSid(TM), ECW(TM), along with a myriad of others.
DGS (www.distributedgis.com) provides software and GIS engineering with a specialty in web-distributed GIS solutions.
